The Zhuxi Reservoir was filled with water on June 25, marking a significant milestone in Taizhou's quest for water security.

The reservoir boasts a capacity of 1.26 billion cubic meters, akin to the volume of 60,000 standard swimming pools, and is expected to serve as a lifeline for the 3.5 million residents residing in the southern part of Taizhou.

It is not merely a static body of water; it is a dynamic component of a visionary water management strategy. Annually, it can channel 90.72 million cubic meters of water to the interconnected Changtan Reservoir, giving rise to the "Zhuxi-Changtan" dual-reservoir supply system.

The innovative system is set to revolutionize the battle against water scarcity, meeting the critical water demands of millions of people while simultaneously enhancing flood prevention measures in downstream towns along the Zhuxi River, extending the flood recurrence interval in the area from 5 years to 20 years.

In addition, the synchronized operation of the two reservoirs will be instrumental in improving flood control along the Yongning River in the urban expanse of Huangyan district. It can also deliver an annual supplementary supply of over 150 million cubic meters of water for agricultural irrigation and ecological purposes within the Wenling-Huangyan Plain.
