Taizhou actress wins Magnolia's Best New Actor award

Li Yunxiao, a Yue Opera actress from Taizhou, was honored with the Best New Actor award at the 31st Shanghai Magnolia Stage Performance Award, which was unveiled on April 26.

Established in 1989, the Shanghai Magnolia Stage Performance Award is an annual celebration of live theater art, recognizing outstanding stage productions and actors.

Born in 1993 in Linhai, a county-level city in Taizhou, Li specializes in the huadan role in traditional Chinese Yue opera. Her deep-rooted passion for Yue opera began at an early age, nurtured by her family's love for opera performances.

In 2008, Li commenced her studies in Yue opera at the Zhejiang Vocational Academy of Art, establishing a profound and enduring connection with the art form. Her time at the academy was characterized by unwavering dedication, laying a solid foundation for her future successes on stage.

This year, Li's exceptional performance in the Yue opera "Qiantang Village" earned her the Best New Actor award.
