Zhejiang J1 AI Glass Co Ltd, based in Taizhou, has achieved a significant milestone by developing China's first intelligent dimming car sunroof, positioning itself as the second company globally to possess the core technology for intelligent dimming glass.

The intelligent dimming car sunroof has been applied to the Zeeker 001 model, which was launched on Feb 27. Zeeker 001 is a flagship electric car model under Geely, an esteemed Chinese automaker.

According to Zhang Yuzhe, CEO of J1, the product effectively addresses the challenges faced by panoramic sunroofs in balancing light transmission and heat insulation.

Zhang further explained, "Electric vehicles equipped with panoramic sunroofs using intelligent dimming glass eliminate the need for traditional physical sunshades, resulting in a more streamlined interior and creating additional space that can be repurposed to enhance battery capacity." He also mentioned that beyond the Zeeker 001, several other new energy vehicles will adopt their products.

J1, established by its parent company JCtimes Group in April 2018, has assembled a professional R&D team led by seven PhD holders and has collaborated with institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences. As a result, the company has filed for over 70 patents, including seven international patents.

Their products have been utilized in projects such as the Hangzhou Asian Games e-sports venue and sightseeing trains in Lijiang, Yunnan province. In August 2023, the 80-mu (5.33 hectares) factory built by J1 with an investment of 500 million yuan ($69.09 million) commenced mass production.
