The moive Oath of Dachen Island, which delves into the story of land reclamation on Dachen Island, recently debuted on the film channel of China Central Television.

The film marks the first domestic production within the Red cultural genre to focus on the theme of land reclamation. It chronicles the awe-inspiring journey of Xiang Yuntong, a veteran recognized for his heroic acts during the Battle of Liberating Yijiangshan Island in 1956, and Shu Yun, as they, alongside over 200 volunteers, embarked on the formidable challenge of reclaiming land on Dachen Island. Through unwavering determination, they succeeded in transforming the once desolate island into a flourishing landscape, while also discovering love and realizing their personal values.

Filmed in December 2017, the movie premiered during the National Day holiday in 2019, serving as a tribute to the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China.

According to Tan Wensheng, the film's executive producer, Oath of Dachen Island is now also available for viewing on popular livestream platforms such as Youku, iQiyi, and Tencent Video, allowing a wider audience to experience this extraordinary narrative.

Located 52 kilometers from the urban area of Taizhou, Dachen Island was liberated in 1955, at a time when it lay as nothing more than a desolate land ravaged by years of conflict. In an effort to restore and cultivate the island, over 400 volunteers were dispatched to reclaim and rejuvenate it from 1956 to 1960. A monument was subsequently erected on the island to honor their pioneering spirit.
