Taizhou foreign trade sees 6.6 percent growth in 2025

Print PrintTaizhou's total imports and exports were valued at 279.98 billion yuan ($40.24 billion) in 2025, a 6.6 percent year-on-year increase, ranking third among cities in Zhejiang province, according to Taizhou Customs. Exports amounted to 255.35 billion yuan, up 7.0 percent, while imports were 24.63 billion yuan, growing 2.7 percent.
Emerging markets have become key drivers of Taizhou's export growth. In 2025, exports to ASEAN, Latin America, and Africa rose by 29.2 percent, 13.6 percent, and 21.3 percent, respectively, surpassing the average growth rates for similar markets in the province. Exports to the EU grew by 6.3 percent, while exports to countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative reached a new high, increasing by 13.4 percent.
Electromechanical products accounted for 62.2 percent of the total. The city's electromechanical exports hit 158.77 billion yuan, up 8.5 percent. Vehicle exports rose by 9.7 percent, auto parts by 13.8 percent, and sewing machines by 9.7 percent. High-end equipment exports surged by 16.7 percent, with machine tools up 32.6 percent, ships up 111.7 percent, and offshore engineering equipment also showing substantial growth.
Private enterprises remain the backbone of Taizhou's foreign trade. In 2025, 10,073 enterprises engaged in foreign trade, up 11.3 percent, marking the first time this number has exceeded 10,000. Of these, 9,844 were private enterprises, whose imports and exports accounted for 91.2 percent of the city's total foreign trade value and contributed 96.7 percent of the overall increase in foreign trade.
