Geng Du Tang, a rural cultural and tourism project in Jindatian village, Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, earned an Honorable Mention in the Interior Design-Commercial Interior category at the 2025 Architecture MasterPrize on Dec 15. This international architecture award recognizes design excellence across the globe.

The project, developed by DT Design, a creative design agency located in Hong Kong, focused on integrating cutting-edge international design in rural settings. The team aimed to explore whether modern design concepts could thrive in a rural context.

Navigating the complexities of rural design, the team faced several challenges, including material choices, ceiling height, column placement, and staircase design. Despite these obstacles, they managed to craft spaces that met modern aesthetic standards while staying true to the area's traditional values.

The final result is not just a physical space but proof of the blend of traditional values with contemporary lifestyles. This international recognition from the Architecture MasterPrize marks a milestone, highlighting the team's journey and Taizhou's ongoing rural vitalization efforts.

Geng Du Tang demonstrates that, with an international perspective and idealistic commitment, even the humblest of rural areas can give rise to world-class aesthetic works.
