Wenling, a county-level city in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, held the inaugural meeting of its Wenling Chamber of International Commerce on Dec 3, creating a shared platform for the city's exporters.

The new chamber brings together more than 1,500 foreign trade companies and is expected to strengthen the city's competitiveness in global markets.

As a coastal hub, Wenling has long relied on foreign trade as a key driver of its economy. Local companies excel in the production of pumps and motors, tools, auto and motorcycle parts, and apparel. The city has cultivated 38 provincial-level export brand enterprises and 54 city-level export brands, ranking first in Taizhou on both counts. From January to October, Wenling recorded 36.4 billion yuan ($5.14 billion) in goods exports, up 4.3 percent year-on-year.

The chamber was established to consolidate resources, helping firms address challenges they face when entering overseas markets. It will focus on three service areas: resource matchmaking, policy support, and business exchange. It aims to integrate members' product and technology strengths, support cooperation across the supply chain, and provide one-stop services such as policy interpretation, cross-border e-commerce training, financing, and insurance.
