Taizhou tourism surges 30.9% during National Day holiday

Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, welcomed approximately 12.1 million visitors between Oct 1 and Oct 8, marking a 30.9 percent year-on-year increase, as the city's cultural and tourism vitality surged during the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.

The city hosted 124 cultural and tourism events during the eight-day holiday, boosting both visitor numbers and consumption.

According to data from the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, Taizhou's tourism revenue reached 4.23 billion yuan ($59.36 million), with the average visitor spending 1,160 yuan. Dining consumption stood at 1.98 billion yuan, with lodging revenue reaching 1.2 billion yuan, reflecting year-on-year increases of 17.71 percent and 11.12 percent, respectively. Taizhou also ranked among the top three cities in Zhejiang for visitor satisfaction.

About 56 percent of visitors came from nearby Zhejiang cities, while 83 percent arrived from the Yangtze River Delta region, with travelers from Shanghai accounting for nearly 20 percent.

Young tourists dominated travel trends, with those born after 1990 and 2000 accounting for 54.3 percent of all visitors. High-end hotels and boutique homestays were especially popular, maintaining an average occupancy rate of 80 percent, with some reaching full capacity during the peak holiday.
