Located in Linhai, a county-level city of Taizhou, Zhejiang province, it has stood for over 1,600 years, with its 6,000-meter-long structure winding between mountains and rivers.

Built during the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317–420), the City Wall of the Ancient City of Taizhou connects Dagu Mountain in the north and Jinzi Mountain in the south, forming a natural defense system along with Lingjiang River and East Lake nearby. Known for its rugged northern terrain and grand presence, the wall also served to prevent flooding. Its distinctive gates and designs make it one of the best-preserved county-level city walls in China.

Linhai's culinary traditions reflect centuries of local culture. Many of its snacks trace their roots to homegrown staples and seasonal customs, blending flavors of Jiangnan — southern regions of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River — with Linhai's unique identity.

Preservation efforts focus on "micro-renovations", preserving both the ancient architecture and residents' everyday life. Locals and visitors now share the charm of the old city, where wood-carved windows meet modern glass facades.
