As the harvest season came to an end, Xianju county in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, concluded its 2025 waxberry exports, with shipments sent to Singapore, France, Canada, Italy, and the United Arab Emirates.

Notably, a Xianju resident vacationing in Singapore was delighted to find her hometown's waxberries on local supermarket shelves — underscoring the growing global presence of Xianju's signature fruit.

Under full-process support from Taizhou Customs, the first shipment departed for Singapore via chartered cold-chain flights on June 7. This batch included not only the renowned Dongkui variety, known as the "king of waxberries", but also featured the debut of the Biqi variety, extending the fruit's international market window.

Xianju's success stems from high-quality standards and strong governmental support. A county-town-base supervision network ensures traceability from orchard to consumer, supported by standardized orchards and comprehensive quality checks.

Waxberry cooperatives across Xianju have invested millions in upgrades, including non-destructive sugar sorting machines, pre-cooling centers that reduce fruit temperature to 4 C within one hour, and special packaging to extend shelf life. Its model of harvesting in the early morning, rapid cooling, and seamless cold-chain delivery ensures peak freshness upon arrival.
