Alibaba's first global sourcing center opened in Jiaojiang district of Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, on June 18.
The center marks a milestone in supporting local enterprises to expand into global markets more efficiently. The event also marked the opening of the Xinhai International Cross-border E-commerce Industrial Park, further boosting Jiaojiang's e-commerce ecosystem.
According to Zhao Guomiao, general manager of Alibaba's Zhejiang branch, the center was placed in Jiaojiang due to its strong private-sector economy, mature industrial supply chains, and local government support.
Alibaba has begun investing across Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Oceania, introducing local logistics, payment systems, after-sales support, and AI-driven sourcing tools. These features lower the entry barrier for exporters, helping Taizhou businesses reach global markets with less cost and greater efficiency.
The Xinhai industrial park offers over 20,000 square meters of warehousing and can handle up to 200,000 daily shipments. It also provides services in law, finance, and intellectual property, as well as talent training across the e-commerce value chain.
Currently, four cross-border e-commerce companies have settled in the park, including firms in eyewear, household goods, and pet products. One local entrepreneur noted that the platform's full-service support made expanding overseas far more accessible.
