Zhejiang Weiling New Energy Technology Co, based in Sanmen county, Taizhou, Zhejiang province, attracted global attention at the recent 2025 Russia MotoSpring, where its elderly scooters garnered praise for their sleek design and safety features.
Breaking from traditional bulky designs, Weiling's scooters are lightweight, easy to detach and fold, and compact enough to fit into car trunks. Enhanced safety mechanisms — such as reduced speed settings and automatic braking upon throttle release — ensure secure rides for seniors.
Already established in more than 30 European countries, Weiling's elderly scooters currently hold a leading position in the European market. "Our annual output exceeds 30,000 units, with two-thirds sold abroad," said General Manager Zhang Zhe.
The company's overseas expansion stems from a 2016 strategy targeting aging populations in developed nations. Zhang and his team conducted extensive global research, visiting nearly 100 regions to refine market entry plans.
Weiling invests 10 percent of its annual revenue into R&D, tailoring products to regional needs and introducing multilingual customer support and AI-driven production upgrades.
Now, the company is entering the medical mobility scooter sector. "After three years of preparation, six models are undergoing FDA certification in the United States, with approvals expected by September," Zhang said.
