Print PrintGuan Huiqian, head of the Overseas Chinese Business Service Station in Hengjie town, Luqiao district, Taizhou, Zhejiang province, stayed busy on May 3 organizing investigation routes for foreign merchants.
"The second phase of the Canton Fair just concluded, and many foreign merchants have not yet returned. We aim to invite them to Hengjie to support the global expansion of local products," said Guan.
In April, Luqiao district launched the "Overseas Chinese Boosting Foreign Trade" initiative and formed two teams. The overseas team includes overseas Chinese merchants and market development workers at overseas Chinese enterprises, while the domestic team consists of members from overseas Chinese associations, returned students, and domestic market development workers.
This initiative led to the creation of 11 Overseas Chinese Business Service Stations, with over 300 members collectively.
After attending the Canton Fair, Guan collected valuable insights in her notebook, including purchase intentions from over 60 foreign buyers and feedback from the overseas team.
"After reviewing the purchase intentions collected by the overseas team, domestic team members connected with foreign merchants. Currently, more than 10 groups of foreign buyers are interested in visiting local factories," Guan said.
The efforts have been fruitful. Zhejiang Hailong Bathroom Technology Co secured orders exceeding 20 million yuan ($2.77 million) with the help of the Overseas Chinese Business Service Station during the Canton Fair, according to Tang Qi, executive director of the company.
