During the current spring plowing and sowing season, the export of agricultural machinery is experiencing a notable increase.
In January and February, agricultural machinery exports of Taizhou, Zhejiang province, reached 569 million yuan ($78.47 million), reflecting a 17.7 percent year-on-year increase, according to Taizhou Customs on March 29.
At Taizhou Chunfeng Machinery Co, workers are currently preparing over 200,000 units of agricultural machinery for shipment. The company, which specializes in sprayer production, achieved an export value exceeding 400 million yuan last year, with a 30 percent growth in production value, said General Manager Cai Anping.
"To prepare for the peak season, we started production immediately after the Spring Festival holiday. The export value rose by 10 percent in January and February, with March sales remaining steady," Cai added.
At Zhejiang Wenxin Mechanical & Electrical Co, a variety of agricultural machinery products are on display, including sprayers, gasoline engines, generators, and lawn mowers.
The company's latest innovation, a planting machine, has attracted significant interest in Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe. "It can greatly boost efficiency. Priced at around 300 yuan, the machine has become a bestseller, with 8,000 to 10,000 units sold every month," said Yang Xianjuan, the company's foreign trade manager.
This year, the company has achieved a monthly export value exceeding 100 million yuan, with sprayers accounting for a third of total sales, according to Yang.
