Taizhou's foreign trade shows strong growth in Jan-Feb

Print PrintThe foreign trade sector of Taizhou, Zhejiang province, showed robust performance in the first two months of 2025, according to Taizhou Customs on March 26.
The city achieved a total import and export volume of 45.8 billion yuan ($6.30 billion) from January to February, marking a 12.6 percent increase year-on-year. This growth positioned Taizhou as the third-fastest-growing city in the province.
Taizhou's exports amounted to 42.05 billion yuan, reflecting a 12.2 percent increase, while imports reached 3.75 billion yuan, showing a significant 17.0 percent growth rate.
Regarding market distribution, exports to the European Union and the United States reached 9.13 billion yuan and 6.65 billion yuan, respectively, with growth rates of 14.0 percent and 7.6 percent. These regions contributed 37.5 percent to the city's total export value.
Additionally, exports to emerging markets such as Latin America, ASEAN, and Africa saw significant growth rates of 24.0 percent, 13.4 percent, and 17.7 percent, respectively.
Noteworthy was Taizhou's exports to countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, which increased by 8.6 percent to 20.09 billion yuan and accounted for 47.8 percent of the total export volume. This underscores the deepening economic and trade ties within the region.
Machinery and electronic products continued to lead the way, with exports totaling 25.14 billion yuan, rising by 11.6 percent and representing 59.8 percent of the total. Particularly, automotive parts emerged as a key driver in the sector, showing a growth rate of 13.8 percent.
