Print PrintTaizhou in Zhejiang province started the year with a flourish, setting a record in January for monthly throughout at Taizhou Port.
By Jan 31, Taizhou Port had processed a total cargo volume of 3.012 million metric tons, representing a 12.98 percent increase compared with the previous year.
Container handling also saw a substantial growth of nearly 10 percent, laying a robust foundation for the rest of the year.
Taizhou Port has set its sights on boosting the inflow of goods and enhancing its service quality.
To manage the surge in bulk cargo stocking and foreign trade shipments ahead of the holidays, it expanded its storage capacity and collaborated with shipping firms and agency partners to bolster vessel capacity and container availability, paving the way for smooth operations.
Tailoring operational plans for key cargo categories such as coal and construction materials, Taizhou Port introduced customized strategies, establishing a streamlined approach that increased efficiency and reduced non-operational times.
Operating round the clock from Jan 28 to Feb 4, port employees worked tirelessly to process 215,000 tons of cargo, ensuring seamless operations and timely deliveries.
Furthermore, measures such as its full coverage of shore power facilities, the promotion of bulk-to-container business transformations, and the deployment of new energy machinery, are all driving the port toward low carbon and high efficiency.
In January, Taizhou Port saw a 34.4 percent year-on-year growth in container volumes transported by water — changing from road transport — reducing carbon emissions from road transport by over 1,000 tons.
