In Taizhou, Zhejiang province, a vehicular robot began working on the morning of Jan 12, effortlessly sweeping up waste in its path.

At 1.7 meters in length and 0.8 meters in width, the vehicle boasts an array of sensors, enabling it to intelligently navigate around pedestrians and obstacles.

This electric sanitation equipment is self-driving and cleans efficiently, primarily applied on city sidewalks, park squares, and side roads.

"The robot is able to work continuously for six to eight hours on a single charge, performing the work of several individuals," explained Tao Hongyi, general manager of Taizhou Cowa Robot Co. The company's intelligent sanitation online platform integrated management, analysis, and monitoring functions for streamlined operation oversight.

Currently, 55 robots of different sizes for different scenarios have been used in Jiaojiang district, showing Taizhou's pioneering deployment of sanitation robots.

The introduction of these sanitation robots may address longstanding challenges in the industry, such as labor shortages and safety risks.

By employing "human-machine collaborative operation", these robots aim to boost efficiency, reduce worker strain, and mitigate safety hazards, particularly during adverse weather conditions, said Luo Zifeng with the comprehensive administrative law enforcement bureau of Taizhou.
