Taizhou honored as 2024 Happiest City in China

Print PrintTaizhou in East China's Zhejiang province was listed among the "2024 Happiest Cities in China" at the Happiest Cities Forum 2024, which was held in Shanghai on Dec 20. This is the ninth time that Taizhou has received the honor.
Taizhou is a coastal city known for its fresh and delicious seafood. With a coastline of approximately 726 kilometers, accounting for about one-third of Zhejiang's total coastline, Taizhou boasts the highest volume of nearshore fishing and aquaculture in the province.
It is a paradise for seafood lovers, with abundant and fresh seafood delicacies that are sure to tantalize the taste buds.
Taizhou is a prosperous city with a developed private economy. It is the epicenter of China's most concentrated and dynamic private economy. Private enterprises account for 99.57 percent of its total market entities, generating 70 percent of its regional GDP.
The city hosts 80,000 manufacturing enterprises across 36 industrial categories, 27 industrial clusters with output values exceeding one billion yuan ($137.03 million), and 307 products that lead in market share both domestically and internationally.
Additionally, Taizhou boasts abundant produce and a pleasant living environment. It was among the first to be awarded the title of "Happiest City in China". It also serves as an important granary and fruit orchard in Zhejiang, with four out of every 10 local fruits in Zhejiang originating in the city.
With a forest coverage rate of 67 percent, Taizhou is recognized as a national forest city and a renowned "oxygen bar" in China.
