Taizhou's Shabu town honored among 'The Best Towns of China'

The 2024 Rural Vitalization Industrial Development Conference and "The Best Towns of China" Award Ceremony took place in Shanghai on Dec 12. Shabu town in Huangyan district, Taizhou, Zhejiang province, was honored with the "Achievement Award for Common Prosperity".

Initiated in 2013 with the support of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the selection of "The Best Towns of China" has garnered global attention.

Shabu town, situated at the convergence of a mountain and a plain, boasts beautiful landscapes and a rich cultural heritage. It is a model town for various development initiatives in Zhejiang, featuring national cultural relic sites including the Shabu Celadon Kiln Ruins and the provincial-level Foling Forest Park.

In recent years, the town has focused on promoting its celadon culture, notably through the development of the "Celadon Charm of the Song Dynasty" tourism IP. The 2023 "Celadon Charm of the Song Dynasty" cultural tourism festival attracted 203,000 visitors, generating a revenue of more than 20 million yuan.

The Foling Forest Music Festival and Tsaigu Trail drew 54,000 music fans and runners, bringing in over 8 million yuan of tourism income.

Shabu town's commitment to sustainable development and shared prosperity is evident through its various projects and initiatives, including the establishment of "Common Prosperity Workshops" that have offered jobs to 125 locals.
