The 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) opened in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Nov 11. An initiative by the State Grid Linhai Power Supply Company in Taizhou, Zhejiang province, was included in the collection of green and low-carbon energy transition cases and shared at a side event.

The innovative initiative received high praise from attendees, who acknowledged it as a viable technical and managerial solution for global green energy development.

Previously, the initiative was included in the "2024 Golden Key — SDG Solutions" on Oct 18 and launched at a roundtable forum during COP16 on Oct 31, being the only Chinese initiative selected at the forum.

Striving to maximize value with minimal resources, the State Grid Linhai Power Supply Company pioneered multi-capital accounting in China's power sector and included eco-friendliness, low-carbon principles, and personnel safety into power development requirements.

Addressing power supply issues in the Kuocang Mountain National Forest Park, it built the country's first 10-megawatt off-grid smart microgrid, which achieves reliable power supply without ecological disturbance, reduces personnel burden, and promotes regional development.

The initiative's international recognition underscores the company's commitment to global climate governance and biodiversity conservation, contributing Chinese solutions and wisdom to global green energy development.

This model has been promoted in regions like Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and Hunan province.
