The Ning Yuan Guang Zhou, a container ship with a deadweight of approximately 60,000 metric tons and a capacity of 3,318 twenty-foot equivalent units, docked at the No 2 berth of the Damaiyu port area in Taizhou Port on Nov 5.
This marks the largest container ship ever to berth at Taizhou Port, highlighting a significant leap in the port's capacity and capabilities.
In recent years, Taizhou Port has been accommodating increasingly larger container ships by enhancing its infrastructure and service quality. The port has upgraded its facilities to enable intelligent, paperless terminal operations and networked, data-driven logistics.
This year, Taizhou Port used the improvements in opening-up to coordinate with shipping companies, boosting the capacity of major shipping routes and increasing the availability of container slots.
As of the end of October, Taizhou Port's container throughput has increased by over 10 percent compared to the same period last year.
To ensure the Ning Yuan Guang Zhou docked smoothly, Taizhou Port Services Co coordinated with the shipping company, agents, and relevant departments, as it worked out detailed berthing and unloading plans.
