In Linhai, a county-level city in Taizhou, Zhejiang province, innovation has emerged as the linchpin for rapidly growing local enterprises.

The city boasts 318 high-tech enterprises and 1,058 provincial small and medium-sized technology-based companies.

Zhejiang Four Brothers Rope Co in Linhai has transitioned from handcrafting plant fiber ropes to being a key player in the chemical fiber rope manufacturing sector.

Among its groundbreaking achievements is the production of China's first independently developed marine engineering cable, shattering the long-standing dominance of European and North American nations in deepwater mooring.

"We allocate 5 percent of our annual revenue to research and have established Asia's largest fiber cable R&D center, with 56 invention patents," said General Manager Li Maoju.

Linhai's strategic focus on innovation extends to fostering collaborations between enterprises and research institutions, helping over 400 enterprises to establish cooperation with 27 universities and institutions.

To support emerging industries, Linhai has proactively formed specialized teams to attract investments in digital economy, new energy, new materials, and high-end preparations, establishing production bases like the intelligent robot manufacturing base.

Looking ahead, Linhai is aligning with the global trend of hydrogen energy development, laying the groundwork for the hydrogen energy industry with supportive policies, a dedicated growth fund, and collaborations with research institutions.
