In Taizhou, Zhejiang province, the eyewear industry is committed to innovation catering to evolving consumer demands, which, in turn, is driving an increase in exports.

Zhejiang Yubo Eyewear Co, located in Linhai, is a high-tech enterprise specializing in manufacturing sunglasses and presbyopic glasses. Its products are mainly exported to Europe, South America, and Southeast Asia.

Its latest product, sunglasses featuring innovative resin lenses and redesigned frames, has been well-received by consumers, leading to an average daily export of more than 20,000 pairs.

In order to expand production capacity, the company invested nearly 4 million yuan (about 552 thousand dollars) this year to install 18 sets of automation equipment.

"The export of our glasses this year has increased by about 10 percent to 15 percent year-on-year," said General Manager Zhou Guibin.

Another company in Linhai, Zhejiang Zhansheng Eyewear Co, also invests heavily in R&D and design, with hundreds of new products launched annually. This year, a new material that can make sunglasses more lightweight and comfortable has further promoted the company's sales.

"Our orders are now fully scheduled for the whole year," said Li Jiaojiao, deputy general manager. The company saw a 30 percent year-on-year growth in export sales from January to June.

Linhai, a hub for eyewear production and exports in China, boasts a robust industry ecosystem comprising nearly a thousand eyewear manufacturing enterprises and 180 export companies. The region's exports of eyewear and accessories have seen a 5.8 percent increase in the first half, hitting 600 million yuan.
