Overseas Chinese youth embrace culture of Luqiao

Print PrintYoung overseas Chinese participating in the "Root-Seeking Journey" summer camp visited to Luqiao district, Taizhou, Zhejiang province, from July 22 to 23, witnessing an array of unprecedented landscapes.
The summer camp, commencing on July 22, hosted 50 Chinese teenagers from six countries including Spain, the United States, and France. Over 10 days, the participants will engage in activities such as cultural experiences and martial arts exchanges, exploring Taizhou's beauty and cultural heritage.
During their first evening in Luqiao, the participants visited the "Ten-Mile Long Street" commercial area and watched a 3D light show depicting Luqiao's historical and cultural heritage.
Wang Hongjie from Spain marveled at the blend of vintage street scenes with the bustling modern commercial area. "The ten-minute light show was impressive, transporting me back to ancient times," exclaimed Wang.
Subsequent activities included a visit to the Luqiao Quyi Museum, where the teenagers learned Luqiao Guci, a musical art form accompanied by drums, under the guidance of local cultural experts.

After exploring the scenery and delving into the culture, the group indulged in the local delicacy shibingtong (pancake roll), learning to wrap dishes in thin rolls.
Expressing their newfound appreciation for Taizhou and Chinese culture, the participants cherished the opportunity to reconnect with their roots. "I've taken many photos in Luqiao and will share them with my friends in Spain," said Wang.
