Xianju waxberry gets carbon label evaluation certificate

Print PrintThe Xianju waxberry from Taizhou, Zhejiang province, was recently granted the first Carbon Label Evaluation Certificate for waxberries in China.
The certificate was awarded after a comprehensive evaluation of the carbon emissions associated with the Xianju waxberry's lifecycle. The evaluation revealed a carbon footprint of 0.5116 kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent per kg of waxberries, with a carbon sequestration rate of 1.2158 kg, resulting in a net carbon footprint of -0.7042 kg.
Renowned as the "Hometown of Chinese Waxberries", Xianju county is one of the birthplaces of artificial waxberry cultivation, with a cultivation history of over a thousand years.
Embracing organic farming practices and implementing green pest control technologies, the county has prioritized sustainable agriculture. Furthermore, efforts to enhance energy efficiency in waxberry processing and storage have contributed to reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions.
