The Xu Yuanbai Art Center was inaugurated at the Jiazhi Old Street in Jiaojiang district, Taizhou, Zhejiang province, on June 27, providing a learning and performing platform for guqin (a traditional seven-stringed zither) enthusiasts.

Xu Yuanbai (1893-1957), born in Jiaojiang, is a revered figure of the guqin art of Zhe School, who dedicated his life to preserving and advancing the art. Guqin art of Zhe School, the oldest guqin school in China, has been recognized as a national and global intangible cultural heritage.

Continuing this legacy, his grandson Xu Junyue, has also devoted himself to the preservation and development of guqin art.

"The art center was opened in Jiaojiang, my grandfather's hometown. I believe there will be many admirers and players visiting Jiaojiang," said Xu. The blending of Jiazhi Old Street's rich cultural heritage with guqin's longstanding tradition symbolizes a harmonious convergence of history and art.

Furthermore, 10 guqin players showcased a repertoire of classic pieces at the art center, offering an aural feast to visitors.
