In Beiyang town, Huangyan district, Taizhou, Zhejiang province, the plastic products industry thrives, witnessing 220 million yuan ($30.36 million) in total exports from January to April of 2024, marking a nearly 30 percent increase compared to last year.
Customized production is a key strategy enabling the industry to penetrate the international market. Taizhou Huajian Plastic Technology Co exemplifies this approach.
The company specializes in tailored products, such as CPVC cable conduits designed for specific climate conditions in Saudi Arabia. These products boast superior thickness and performance in high-pressure and high-temperature environments, catering precisely to customer needs, according to Xu Lingchao, the company's foreign trade manager.
By prioritizing research and development aligned with customer requirements, Huajian Plastic has not only retained existing customers but also attracted new ones, resulting in customized production orders exceeding 30 million yuan this year.
In the first four months of this year, Huajian Plastic achieved a 35 percent year-on-year increase in export value, amounting to 65 million yuan. It is set to inaugurate a factory in Pakistan and expand its market presence in countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
Similarly, Srlon Packaging Technology Co, another enterprise in Beiyang town, focuses on technological innovation to produce high-barrier, multifunctional plastic flexible packaging products.
"From January to April, the largest increase in orders was a five-layer barrier bottle exported to Vietnam," said Chen Huaqing, the company's president. At present, the company has the capacity to manufacture bottles with up to 10 layers of barrier.
In addition to supplying international leading food companies, the products are also provided to the Chinese space station as space food packaging.
Technological innovations have enabled Srlon to venture into new markets in Southeast Asia, bringing a 35 percent year-on-year growth in foreign trade exports from January to April.
