On May 11, Shuangma Plastic Manufacturing Co in Taizhou, Zhejiang province obtained a China-Ecuador Free Trade Agreement Certificate of Origin, saving approximately 5,200 yuan ($717.90) in tariffs. This exemplifies the ongoing efforts to enhance the port business environment in Taizhou.

Taizhou has initiated the Cross-Border Trade Facilitation Action to foster a market-oriented, rule-of-law-based, and internationalized port business environment, aiming to propel the high-quality development of Taizhou's open economy, according to Du Huazhong, deputy director of the city's marine economy development bureau.

This action plan focuses on optimizing customs clearance supervision models, streamlining clearance procedures, and cutting costs. Noteworthy reforms include allowing advance document review and tax collection for imported and exported goods.

Border inspection reforms are also advancing, with measures including 24/7 international shipping vessel clearance guarantees, procedure streamlining, the promotion of universal licenses, and the opening of a "green channel" at sea for fresh products and emergency rescues.

Furthermore, port fee management has received much attention. Relevant departments are promoting the publication and real-time updating of the fees charged to import and export enterprises. They have also disclosed channels for complaints and reports in an effort to create a transparent fee system.
