Two auto shows in Linhai and Wenling in Taizhou, Zhejiang province ignited the automobile market during the May Day holiday.
From April 30 to May 3, the events attracted over 150,000 visits and saw the sale of 321 cars on-site, worth more than 53 million yuan ($7.34 million).
The shows featured a wide range of vehicles from mainstream fuel cars to new energy vehicles, including more than 50 brands like BMW, BYD, Nio, and Leapmotor.
To further boost automotive consumption, Linhai's government offered subsidies of up to 12 million yuan. Auto enterprises participating in the exhibitions also provided various preferential policies such as purchase subsidies and low-interest loans, making it easier for consumers to buy cars.
New energy vehicles were a focus of the shows, accounting for more than 80 percent of the total, with enterprises showcasing their latest models and technologies.
"During the shows, the customer flow in our store was about four times more than usual," said Gao Tingting, marketing manager at one of the stores of the Taizhou Leapmotor Center.
The events also leveraged online platforms for virtual exhibitions, garnering nearly 2 million views and over 3,000 inquiries.
