The Taizhou Bay New Area Airport in Taizhou, Zhejiang province officially began operations on March 27, with a drone taking off from its runway. The inaugural flight was announced by Li Yueqi, secretary of the CPC Taizhou Municipal Committee.

The newly established airport is designated as a class A1 general aviation airport and covers an area of 352 mu (23.46 hectares), with a 1200-meter-long runway and 14 parking spaces on the apron. The primary functions of the airport will include accommodating aircraft test flights, facilitating general aviation training and operations, as well as providing short-haul transportation services.

In his ceremonial address, Mayor Shen Mingquan highlighted that Taizhou, as a prominent manufacturing center within the Yangtze River Delta, has strategically prioritized the development of new quality productive forces, with a particular focus on positioning aerospace as a pivotal emerging industry.

The Taizhou Bay New Area Airport, he added, will effectively address a crucial gap in the city's general aviation infrastructure, and is expected to attract a substantial influx of top-tier talent, investment, and projects to the region.
