Tiantai runner triumphs at national contest

Xie Xiaoheng, a runner hailing from Taizhou, Zhejiang province, put forth an outstanding performance at the inaugural leg of the National Indoor Track and Field Grand Prix, which concluded in Chengdu, Sichuan province, on Feb 28.

In a thrilling display of skill and determination, Xie surged ahead in the latter half of the men's 1,500-meter final, surpassing his competitors and securing the championship with a time of 3 minutes and 49.02 seconds.

Born in December 1999 in Tiantai county, Xie Xiaoheng embarked on his track and field journey at the age of 10. Guided by coach Xie Tingxiu at the Tiantai Sports School, he diligently honed his abilities and later joined the track and field team at the Zhejiang College of Sports.

Xie's remarkable talent has been evident in his previous achievements. In 2021, he clinched second place in the men's 800 meters race at the 14th National Games. Two years later, he triumphed in the men's 800 meters at the 2023 National Indoor Track and Field Invitational. Furthermore, he emerged victorious in the men's 1,500 meters final at the third leg of the 2023 National Indoor Track and Field Invitational and secured the 1500-meter championship at the 2023 National Indoor Track and Field Championships.
