Taizhou is set to come aglow with a diverse array of activities in celebration of the upcoming Lantern Festival, which falls on Feb 24 this year.
The Lantern Festival, also known as Yuanxiao Festival, is a traditional Chinese celebration observed on the fifteenth day of the first month in the lunar calendar, signifying the conclusion of the Spring Festival.
One highlight not to be missed is the ongoing lantern exhibition near Wudong Bridge in Taizhou's Huangyan district. This exhibition showcases over 10 sets of exclusive Dragon Year lantern installations and hundreds of lanterns, creating a magnificent visual spectacle. Visitors also have the opportunity to savor New Year delicacies and revel in folk performances at the venue.
In Wenling, a county-level city within Taizhou, visitors can partake in a hands-on lantern-making experience on Feb 24 at the Wang Bomin Gallery. A cultural parade featuring a diverse array of folk performances will take place the same day at the Yuhuan Sports Center in the county-level city of Yuhuan.
Meanwhile, in the city's Luqiao district, an opera gala is scheduled to captivate audiences from Feb 23 to 25 at 7:30 pm at the Luqiao Cultural and Sports Center.
For a unique experience during the Lantern Festival, a night tour of the Linghu Scenic Spot, situated in the county-level city of Linhai, comes highly recommended. Visitors will have the opportunity to embark on a small island before joining a hanfu parade, adding an extra layer of enchantment to the festivities.
