A commercial satellite, named after Taizhou, a city located in East China's Zhejiang province, was successfully launched into a low Earth orbit from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center on Feb 3.

This satellite is part of a group of 11 satellites that were launched using a single rocket. Weighing approximately 100 kilograms, it is currently operational at an altitude of 600 kilometers.

All of these satellites were manufactured in the satellite super-factory established by Geespace, a subsidiary of the Chinese automotive giant Geely, in Taizhou.

This launch marks the completion of the deployment of the second orbital plane of the Geely Future Mobility Constellation, a future mobility system. The constellation is expected to eventually consist of 240 satellites, providing satellite application services, including communication, navigation, and remote sensing, to automobile brands globally, including those within Geely's portfolio.

The initial phase involves 72 satellites, which are scheduled to be placed in orbit by 2025. On June 2, 2022, Geelyspace successfully launched its first nine satellites into orbit, and these satellites have been operating reliably for over a year.
