The highly anticipated 2023 Taizhou Marathon was held in Taizhou in East China's Zhejiang province on Dec 3.

Participants were given the opportunity to select from three categories: a full marathon, a half marathon, or a 5-kilometer fitness run. However, each category had limited spots available, with a maximum of 3,000, 7,000, and 5,000 participants, respectively.

Following intense competition, an Ethiopian athlete emerged victorious in the men's marathon, setting a new tournament record. Meanwhile, a Kenyan athlete claimed the women's marathon title. Chinese athlete Sun Zongyang triumphed in the men's half marathon, while Chinese athlete Zhu Li secured the women's half marathon championship.

Established in 2015, the Taizhou Marathon has consistently garnered recognition and acclaim. It received the prestigious Gold Label from the Chinese Athletics Association in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Unfortunately, due to the global pandemic, the event was unable to take place for the past two years.
