The first box girder of the Wenling-Yuhuan Railway was successfully installed on Nov 29.

This concrete prefabricated structure, measuring 32 meters long and 12 meters wide and weighing 733 metric tons, was smoothly placed on piers 15-16 of the Wenling West Station Grand Bridge, laying a solid foundation for the future track laying work for the railway that connects the county-level cities of Wenling and Yuhuan in Taizhou.

With an investment of 7.6 billion yuan ($1.07 billion), the rail line extends for 37.2 kilometers and is designed to operate at a speed of 350 km/h. The Wenling section of the railway will span approximately 21.1 kilometers, while the remaining part will be located in Yuhuan.

This project is a public-private partnership (PPP) and is significant for being the only high-speed railway in China that has been independently constructed by a prefecture-level city. It is scheduled to open to traffic in 2025, which will also mark the inauguration of the first railway line in Yuhuan. Upon its opening, all administrative areas in Taizhou will be connected by high-speed rail, further enhancing transportation connectivity in the region.
