Huangyan district in Taizhou is now imbued with a captivating autumn ambiance, with a mesmerizing tapestry of colorful foliage creating scenes reminiscent of meticulously-crafted oil paintings.

In the district, dawn redwood, phoenix trees, and ginkgo trees are the autumn stars. Dawn redwood, found along the Yongning River Park, turns from green to a striking yellow.

For residents of Huangyan, the phoenix tree is a symbol of autumn. These magnificent trees, lining Qingnian Road and Laodong South Road, have grown into majestic giants with dense branches adorned with colorful leaves.

Ginkgo trees change their color later than the other trees, usually in late November. Their leaves turn into beautiful gold, casting a warm glow on the surroundings.

Although the viewing period for these trees is short, lasting only one or two months, it provides the residents of Huangyan with a chance to appreciate the enchanting beauty of the season. With favorable weather conditions, now is the perfect time to enjoy the autumn scenery.

The leaves change color due to climate factors. As temperatures drop and sunlight decreases, chlorophyll synthesis is inhibited and other pigments like anthocyanins and carotenoids take over, resulting in a vibrant palette of reds, yellows, oranges, and purples, according to Ye Chen, a staff member of the Huangyan Landscape Conservation Affairs Center.
