Chinese shooters Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao secured the gold medal in the 10m air rifle mixed team event at the Hangzhou Asian Games on Sept 26.
During the qualification round, Huang Yuting notched a score of 315.1, while her teammate Sheng Lihao amassed a score of 319.3, resulting in a combined total of 634.4. This outstanding performance shattered the previous Asian record set by Yang Haoran and Yang Qian in the qualification round. The duo continued their hot streak in the gold medal match, triumphing over their opponents with a final score of 16:2.
This victory is Huang Yuting's third gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games. On Sept 24, alongside her teammates Han Jiayu and Wang Zhilin, she clinched the gold in the women's 10m air rifle team event. Following this accomplishment, Huang Yuting achieved a new Asian Games record in the women's 10m air rifle individual event, scoring 252.7 and becoming the gold medalist once again.
Despite being just 17 years old, Huang Yuting, hailing from Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, has already made a name for herself in the shooting world. In March, she claimed two consecutive gold medals at the 2023 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Rifle/Pistol World Cup in India. She followed that success up in May, when she added another gold and bronze medal to her collection at the World Cup in Azerbaijan.
