The Huangsha lion dance, a unique dance from Linhai, a county-level city in Taizhou, will be featured during the opening ceremony of the Hangzhou Asian Games on Sept 23.

Tracing its origins back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279), the Huangsha lion dance was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage item in 2006. The dance is known for its fusion of folk martial arts and traditional lion dance techniques.

On July 7, it was announced that the Huangsha lion dance would be performed during the opening ceremony of the Hangzhou Asian Games. Dancers diligently rehearsed and trained for the Games' opening ceremony from Aug 15 to Sept 20.
