Taizhou in East China's Zhejiang province hosted a guitar contest from Aug 19 to 21. With over 1,100 guitar enthusiasts flocking to the area from all corners of China, the event was a resounding success.

The three-day competition, organized by the Taizhou Musicians Association, saw contestants, divided into an adult group and a junior group, vie for top honors in classical guitar, folk guitar, and fingerstyle guitar genres.

Embracing the excitement, Wu You, a classical guitar teacher at the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music and also the champion of the Vienna International Guitar Competition, visited Taizhou for the first time. Wu spoke fondly of the city's vibrant cultural heritage and the warm embrace of musical culture by its residents. In addition, he lauded Taizhou's commitment to music education, expressing his belief in the significance of promoting guitar music at the grassroots level. "As a musician, nothing is more fulfilling than getting more people interested in guitar music," remarked Wu.

Liu Zaisuo, a member of the Taizhou Musicians Association, shared the association's initial aim in organizing this event. "Through our united efforts," said Liu, "we aspired to introduce authentic guitar music to Taizhou. It is our dream to provide every child with an opportunity to delve into the world of music and enhance their musical skills through the magical instrument that is the guitar. By doing so, we strive to elevate the musical proficiency of Taizhou residents."
