Huipu Experiment School's boys' basketball team clinched the championship at the 2022-2023 China Junior High School Basketball League National Finals in Foshan, Guangdong province on Aug 12.
Their mettle shone as they beat Mingde Huaxing Middle School 85-82. This historic victory is their first national title.
Huipu Experiment School's opening salvo yielded an 8-2 advantage, met swiftly by Mingde Huaxing's counteroffensive, culminating in a 20-18 score line at the first quarter's end. The second quarter saw Huipu Experiment School taking calculated offensive maneuvers, granting them an 11-point lead by halftime.
The second half unveiled an intense battleground, with Huipu Experiment School maintaining their tactical dominance, extending their lead to 15 points. Mingde Huaxing's spirited fightback culminated in a nail-biting 85-82 score line, testing the former's resolve. In the final moments, Huipu Experiment School displayed unwavering composure, securing victory by a 3-point margin.
Coach Sun Xinliang lauded the team's achievement. The China Junior High School Basketball League's prestigious status and Mingde Huaxing's reigning champion status added weight to their triumph.
Recent success in the school's higher divisions bolstered morale, propelling the team to their zenith. Huipu Experiment School's commitment to nurturing talent, from elementary to junior high students, has borne fruit.
This championship not only cements their basketball legacy but also exemplifies their pyramid-style talent cultivation model, channeling 60 percent of junior high prospects to the high school division. Principal Wang Weixing underscored this as a testament to their holistic approach.
