Taizhou's Xianju county has seen a remarkable surge in high-tech industrial investment, attracting a staggering 2.86 billion yuan ($396.65 million) in the first half of this year.

The figure represents a year-on-year uptick of 289.5 percent, topping the charts in East China's Zhejiang province, as revealed by official statistics.

During the period, Xianju succeeded in attracting investments primarily in the fields of medical equipment, pharmaceutical chemicals, new energy, and new materials. This strategic focus aligns with Xianju's goal of developing five key industrial clusters, namely modern medicine, high-end equipment manufacturing, medical equipment, new materials, and craft gifts. Each of these clusters is anticipated to generate an output value of 10 billion yuan.

The success of Xianju in attracting a significant influx of high-tech projects can be attributed to a combination of factors, with one of the key contributors being the implementation of a series of preferential policies by the local government.

One example is the case of Zhejiang Qianyu Intelligent Technology Co Ltd, a company specializing in the production of medical collaborative intelligent robots.

The company was enticed to choose Xianju as its investment destination due to the attractive policies on offer. These policies included the free use of factory buildings and customizable clean workshops throughout the incubation period. Such support has significantly reduced startup risks and paved the way for the company's rapid growth. Presently, Zhejiang Qianyu Intelligent Technology Co Ltd manufactures more than 1,000 robots per year.

The county's efficient and streamlined government services further enhance its appeal to investors.

One noteworthy example is the power battery project initiated by renowned carmaker BYD in Xianju. The project, located in the Xianju Economic Development Zone, stands as a testament to the county's efficient government services. From the moment the contract was signed to the commencement of construction, all administrative approval procedures were completed in two months. This timeline represents a more than 50 percent reduction compared to previous years.
