Taizhou gymnast claims 3 golds at Asian Gymnastics Championships

Zhang Qingying, a 16-year-old athlete from Taizhou in East China's Zhejiang province, shined at the 10th Asia Gymnastics Championships in Singapore, securing an impressive three gold medals and one silver medal.

On June 18, the final day of the competition, Zhang secured two gold medals in the balance beam and free exercise events after winning gold medal in the women's team competition and silver medal in all-around competition two days before.

As an age-appropriate candidate for the Paris Olympics, Zhang was chosen for the Chinese gymnastics team at the end of last year due to her excellent performances in national gymnastics tournaments. Zhang's participation in the Asia Gymnastics Championships also marked her debut in an intercontinental tournament as an adult athlete.

Zhang's journey into the realm of gymnastics began at age five when she started training at the Jiaojiang Sports School. Her dedication and outstanding performance secured her place on the Zhejiang provincial team in 2015, leading her to participate in various competitions and championships.
