Taizhou in East China's Zhejiang province launched a month-long fitness event on June 15 to welcome the 19th Asian Games, with only 100 days remaining until the much-anticipated sports event.
On June 15, the event opened with a spectacular ceremony, featuring a range of performances including karate and lion dancing.
During the month-long period, over 100 sports events related to basketball, volleyball, swimming, chess, and jogging will be staged in various venues throughout Taizhou, including the gymnasium, youth palace, and cultural auditorium.
Despite not hosting any of the Asian Games competitions, the local government is endeavoring to leverage the event to boost sporting activity and promote physical fitness among the people of Taizhou.
Authorities have set a target of hosting over 1,000 sports events throughout the year.
