Five cultural companies from Taizhou, located in East China's Zhejiang province, captivated visitors at the 19th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF), which opened on June 7.

Taizhou impressed visitors with an impressive display of creative cultural products such as embroidery works, colored lanterns, cartoon films, and products inspired by the Ancient City of Taizhou Cultural Scenic Area.

The five-day national-level fair, featuring mainly onsite events, has attracted more than 3,500 government bodies, cultural organizations and enterprises.

One visitor, Zhang Tianyi, expressed fondness for a scarf embroidered with azalea flower patterns exhibited by Taizhou Taixiu Clothing Co Ltd, saying it's "not as showy as some other embroidery. It's very quiet and elegant."

Lanterns brought to the fair by Taizhou have also attracted much attention. He Wenbin, a lantern craftsman from Taizhou's Xianju county, explained that the lanterns displayed are a type of Xianju boneless lantern, named as such because they do not have frames.

To create certain shapes, artisans piece together multiple layers of paper before pricking holes in the lanterns to let the light out.

The embroidered boneless festive lantern in Xianju is regarded as the "No 1 lantern in China", and the techniques used to make it have been designated as a national intangible cultural heritage.
