Taizhou in East China's Zhejiang province recently released guidelines aimed at standardizing the construction and operation of "common prosperity" workshops.

The workshops, typically established by local authorities in partnership with businesses, aim to offer employment opportunities for rural laborers and support the "common prosperity" initiative.

The guidelines, which are the first of their kind in the country, provide specifications for the six categories of such workshops. The guidelines are expected to become a technical reference for other areas in Zhejiang, which plans to build 10,000 "common prosperity" workshops over the next three years.

To date, Taizhou has built 1,170 such facilities, providing employment for over 38,000 people.

Implementation of these new standards will help to improve the quality of the workshops, benefiting enterprises, village collectives and farmers alike, according to Shen Yanhong, director of standardization at the Taizhou Municipal Bureau of Market Supervision.
