Shitang town in Wenling, a county-level city in Taizhou recently made the list of the second group of Zhejiang provincial sports and leisure towns.

Zhejiang launched a campaign in 2017 to build provincial sports and leisure towns and has since unveiled a set of related standards. To date, 11 places across the province have received the honorary title.

Shitang town is surrounded by the sea on three sides, giving it the name "Cape of Good Hope on the coast of the East China Sea".

Renowned for its pristine coastal views, the town has in recent years developed multiple sports and leisure programs to attract sports enthusiasts. Besides getting to admire sea views, tourists to Shitang can do activities like hiking and cycling.

In 2019, Shitang was designated as the main venue for the Zhejiang Maritime Games, and this has further improved the town's recognition and fueled the growth of its tourism and sports industries.
