The 10th East Asian Karate Federation Championship 2023 will be held at the Yuhuan Olympic Sports Center, Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province from April 28 to 30.

The championship will partly determine the Chinese athletes who will compete in the karate competition of the upcoming 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou.

The championship comprises 53 events for four groups of athletes – juvenile, youth, U21 and adult.

A total of 150 Chinese athletes will take part in the event. Among them, 58 will come from the national team, while the rest will be from Macao, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

One Chinese athlete to look out for is Chen Weixing, who took home the gold medal in the karate competition of the 17th Games of Zhejiang Province in 2022. He also won a bronze at the National Karate Championships that same year.

Earlier this year, the 19-year-old bagged another bronze medal at the 2023 National Karate Championships.
