Twelve couples tied the knot at the Ancient City of Taizhou Cultural Scenic Area in Linhai, a county-level city in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province on April 15.

Donning ancient Chinese costumes, the couples attended a group wedding ceremony featuring some marital rituals from the Song Dynasty (618-907) in the scenic area before registering their marriage.

The event is part of a myriad of cultural events launched by authorities aimed at helping the scenic area attract more visitors.

The Ancient City of Taizhou Cultural Scenic Area, which was designated a national 5A scenic spot last July, covers an area of 3.12 square kilometers and consists of scenic spots like City Wall of the Ancient City of Taizhou and Ziyang Street.

The City Wall of the Ancient City of Taizhou, also known as "the Southern Great Wall", spans about 5,000 meters and was listed as a relic under State protection in 2001. It was inducted into the preparatory China World Cultural Heritage list in 2012.

Stretching 1,080 meters, Ziyang Street is one of the most well-preserved historical blocks in China. In 2012, it was named a "Famous Chinese Historical and Cultural Street" by the Ministry of Culture and the State Bureau of Cultural Relics.
