The tea industry in Zhu'ao town, Sanmen county, Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province has been thriving in recent years.

Tea plantations in Zhu'ao occupy nearly 10,000 mu (666.67 hectares) and have an annual yield of 550,000 metric tons of tea that can sell for 250 million yuan ($36.38 million), official statistics show.

The tea industry has seen success after implementing of a string of measures, including building tea workshops and launching events to enhance brand awareness, that were unveiled by authorities to help tea farmers raise their incomes as part of the area's common prosperity campaign.

Zhou Fangmin, the owner of a tea garden in Xiangshan, a village administered by Zhu'ao, said that tea produced from the village has been selling well this year. And the 76-year-old attributed the rise in sales to the annual tea festival held in the village.

Zhou said he can earn about 30,000 yuan per year by growing two to three mu of tea.

The history of tea cultivation in Xiangshan dates back more than 500 years. Almost all households in the village are engaged in tea-related jobs.

In 2005, an early variety of tea produced from Xiangshan won the gold medal at the third China international Tea Expo held in Jinan, East China's Shandong province.

Authorities have in recent years allocated more than 10 million yuan to develop a public tea brand called Longxianggu and inaugurated several tourism facilities related to the tea in Xiangshan village.
