2 villages earn national honor for characteristic industries

Two villages - Meixian village and Taotou village - in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province recently made the 2022 list of villages with a characteristic sector that has an annual output value of 100 million yuan ($14.53 million) or more.
This is the second time the two villages have made the list released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
Meixian village
Located in Yongquan town in the county-level city of Linhai, Meixian village is renowned for its tangerines. The fruit's plantation area covers more than 2,600 mu (173.3 hectares) and has an annual output value of over 100 million yuan.
Meixianshan, a seedless tangerine brand registered by the village, has been rated as pollution-free agricultural product and green food.
Taotou village
Taotou village in Taizhou's Sanmen county is known for its blue crabs. In 2022, the output of the aquaculture sector in Taotou surpassed 180 million yuan.
The collective income of the village surpassed 11.42 million yuan that year, with the per capita income exceeding 100,000 yuan.
The seafood produced in the village is primarily blue crabs, blood clams, razor clams and shrimps. In recent years, Taotou has even rented land in countries including Malaysia to farm blue crabs.
